OUR CURRENT PROJECT
Bricks is a short film that looks at modern-day problems young people face with mental health and party culture. The aim of the film is to bring awareness of mental health and drug abuse in young people in a relatable way. The script works to break the stigma around young men not being open about their mental health and feelings. Alongside this, the project aims to demonstrate how panic/anxiety attacks can take many forms and aims to raise awareness. In addition to this, the story also looks into drug abuse in young people and how it has become a ‘social norm’; highlighting the key dangers of drug use. The film will be set in Huddersfield and will be a Yorkshire short film. We also successfully raised £669 in our pre-production Kickstarter campaign.
Synopsis:
Ricky has been suffering from anxiety and low self-esteem. However, he doesn’t like to talk about his feelings as he feels it will make him look weak. The morning after a party the friends all go to a cafe for breakfast. In this scene we see Ricky having an anxiety attack however instead of speaking out he stays quiet and just seems zoned out. Later that night they have another party in which Ricky take drugs. Ricky ODs and his friends find him in the bathroom. In between these scenes we see Ricky and his girlfriend (Sophie) talking about how he has been feeling and gain more of an insight into why he turns to drugs and alcohol as an escape.
